This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
thank you! I love your creations and am astounded by the detail you have in each. I'm still having alot of trouble making human figures, any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
Like most (I think) of the 3D artists at dA, I cheat - I use Poser. Commercial base figures are way more sophisticated than one person can create in finite time, and are highly customizable. (I think Victoria 4 has something over 100,000 polygons.)
Something I do that very few 3D artists do, is use stock images for scenery. These provide more detail, at higher resolution, than texture-mapped rendered objects. (Maybe if you've got a mainframe...) They have their limits too - sometime I'll devote a journal entry to the pros and cons.
Sounds like a much more efficient way of doing it. I'm trying to get into game modeling/animating right now, im in my senior year of college and about to start sending out resumes/internship request, so for the time being i'm trying to make everything from hand on Maya and 3Dstudio max. Once i figure out the basics of building these figures, i may switch over to poser to try building some nicer scenes.
You have a lot better understanding of the easy way when you've done it yourself the hard way! But when you need to get the job done, do it the easy way.
Impressive creations - I shudder to think what my own characters would look like without Poser
